Welcome to the
Springhurst & Close Ave Pollinator Corridor

The Springhurst & Close Ave Pollinator Corridor is located at… you guessed it… the corner of Springhurst & Close Aves in Parkdale, Toronto. Directly north of the train tracks and the Queen Elizabeth Expressway on Toronto’s lakeshore, this is a lively area featuring a very rich diversity of animal and bird life including, but not limited to, humans, dogs, cats, coyotes, skunks, raccoons, mice, rats, squirrels, hawks, pigeons, robins, blackbirds, sparrows, starlings, orioles, seagulls, terns, Canada Geese, mallards, and the occasional peregrine falcon fly-past.

Our hope is to dramatically increase the population of pollinating bees and butterflies (hummingbirds welcome too!) in the neighbourhood through planting and cultivating pollinator-friendly native plant species.

We’re one of almost 70 projects that has received support since 2019 from PollinateTO, a City of Toronto project to create pollinator-friendly and accessible habitats throughout the city.

“If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”
